Receiving the award for Lucas County was Bill Halsey, Lucas County Emergency Management Agency Director and Becky Eby, Lucas County Skywarn Coordinator. Other emergency preparedness officials were also present. Lucas County is the largest county in Ohio to achieve StormReady status and this designation has to potential to lower flood insurance rates for Lucas County homeowners. According to NOAA's StormReady® website, "StormReady communities are better prepared to save lives from the onslaught of severe weather through better planning, education, and awareness. No community is storm proof, but StormReady can help communities save lives." See how StormReady saved more than 50 movie goers in Van Wert County Ohio.
